We’ve had a busy spring here at Big Eddy, and we wanted to take 5 and share about one of our exciting projects we’ve been working on. Over the winter, a long-time visitor and fisherman of the West Branch donated funds to Chewonki and we purchased a third cozy cabin!
If you’ve stayed in any of our cabins, you know how popular they are. Whether it’s a reprieve from the black flies, a roof over your head, or a mattress to sleep on – the reasons folks enjoy them are many. Adding more cabins and making upgrades to the fleet is part of our long-term upgrades at the campground, so receiving this donation was much appreciated and exciting.
The new Caddis Cabin is nearly identical to POC 1 and 2 cozy cabins (which we will be renaming next year). The only difference is the sleeping arrangements – there’s two twin beds. Guests will need to pack a camping stove, kitchen gear, illumination, sleeping bags and pillow. Currently, there is no heat source in Caddis Cabin, but we will be adding a small propane heater in the near future.
And lastly, the cabin is now open for bookings!
That’s all we have for now. Stay tuned for our second exciting campground upgrade in the next few weeks!
We look forward to seeing you this summer,
Sarah
